UMass Lowell Chamber Singers perform
The UMass Lowell Chamber Singers is the most select vocal ensemble at the university. Recent engagements have included performances at American Choral Director’s Association (ACDA) events, master classes with the professional early music ensemble Blue Heron, and performances at the Massachusetts Governor’s State of the Commonwealth Address, among many others. The Chamber Singers perform frequently out in the Greater Lowell community and beyond by visiting area high schools, arts organizations and community institutions.
Consisting of a highly select group of 20 to 24 singers, the UML Chamber Singers delves into the finest points of small ensemble singing with challenging and fun repertoire from various periods, contexts, and genres. The goal of this group is to provide expert instruction in small, select choir literature while fostering independence and professionalism in each musician. The ensemble seeks to perform with an exceptionally refined sound, nuanced musical interpretations, and masterful vocal expressivity.
Chamber Singers is offered as a two-credit course (MUEN 2010 & 5010). Auditions for Chamber Singers occur at the end of the spring semester and in the first few days of the fall semester. More information for auditions can be found on the Ensemble Board on the first floor of Durgin Hall or at www.uml.edu/choralsignup.
