Anne Mulvey is a professor of psychology with interests in the areas of feminist community psychology, the psychology of women, and women’s studies.  Her work has focused on the integration of theory and practice to encourage the well-being of diverse groups of women in safe, just and welcoming communities. She has published theoretical, empirical and creative work related to pre-cursors and multiple forms of gendered violence, Lowell quality of life, and the use of public art to foster gender inclusive public space.  She teaches courses related to these interests, often integrating field work, and has developed a number of campus-community partnerships including Lowell Women’s Week, an annual city-wide program that she was instrumental in starting when she was the coordinator of the Women’s Studies Program.  She has also been the coordinator of the Community Social Psychology graduate program and of the campus Center for Diversity and Pluralism.

Anne is a fellow of the American Psychological Association (APA), the Society for Community Research and Action (APA Div. 27), the Society for the Psychology of Women (APA Div. 35), and of the Society for the Psychological Study of Lesbian, Gay, and Bisexual Issues (APA Div. 44).  She has served on the executive committees of the Society for Community Research and Action and of the Society for the Psychology of Women, has been a Visiting Professor at University College Dublin (Ireland) and at the University of Waikato (Aotearoa/New Zealand), and is on the editorial board of The Journal of Community Psychology.  She received the University of Lowell Trustees Medal for Outstanding Community Service.
