Biosketch
Anjana holds a Ph.D. in Plant Pathology from Govind Ballabh Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar, India. With over 16 years of experience managing biomedical research and laboratory operations, she has consistently driven innovation and operational excellence in both academic and industrial settings, particularly within complex, multidisciplinary environments.
Her expertise encompasses a broad range of areas, including safety protocols, space optimization, equipment procurement and preventive maintenance, infrastructure improvement, and strategic planning. Throughout her career, Anjana has collaborated closely with diverse departments—such as Facilities, Laboratory Operations, Environmental Health and Safety (EHS), Procurement, Information Technology (IT), and scientific teams—to ensure seamless coordination, streamline research operations, and improve overall efficiency. Her collaborative approach has been key in establishing and maintaining high-performing research environments. Prior to joining UMass Lowell, Anjana served as Site Director at SmartLabs, where she led a team supporting the operations of biotech and pharmaceutical research and development (R&D) discovery labs. In this role, she was responsible for overseeing diverse operations and ensuring compliance with industry standards.
