Beth Humberd is an organizational leadership and identity expert whose work focuses on how gender, ethnicity and relationships among co-workers affect employees and workplaces.

Humberd’s research topics include how women view their gender as their careers advance, the professional experiences new mothers and new fathers face, how automation is changing the landscape of work, how expanding gender and racial identities have organizational implications and how high-quality work relationships are built. Before her move to higher education, she worked for several years in human resources and corporate finance at a medical-device company and a top accounting firm.

An associate professor of management Humberd teaches in UMass Lowell’s Manning School of Business and is an associate in the university’s Center for Women and Work, which examines and seeks remedies for gender inequalities in the workplace.
