Biosketch
Brown is director of the Nuclear Engineering Program at the University of Massachusetts Lowell where he has been since 1973. He has national and international experiences in government and industry.
Brown served as a Foster Fellow in the US Department of State, in the Bureau of International Security and Nonproliferation. He helped develop and was a mentor at the World Nuclear University’s Summer Institute. He worked at the IAEA in safeguards training and now serves as a technical consultant. He has worked at national laboratories and in industry and has one patent and over 50 technical publications in the areas of nuclear safety, advanced reactors, economics, materials, cogeneration, and in the interdisciplinary area of technology and values.
Brown served on the National Nuclear Accreditation Board and the Engineering Accreditation Commission and Board of Directors of ABET where he has accredited both utility training and engineering and technology programs. He is a Fellow of the American Nuclear Society and served on the Board of Directors and as Chair of the Education Division.
