OmniSense , DifferenceMakers
OmniSense won the Contribution to a Healthier Lifestyle award, a $4,500 prize, at the 2016 Idea Challenge. Team Members include Bolutife Anifowose '16 (Marketing), Michael Dollogono (Graduate Biomedical Engineering and Biotechnology) and Martin Lee '16 (MIS).
The problem OmniSense addresses is performance tracking for athletes by giving users a low cost option of tracking lifting metrics such as reps, bar acceleration and bar path. By analyzing these metrics the team and athletes may also see a correlation with bar acceleration and injury risk. The team is developing a specialized device to track the bar path of a barbell when it is in motion. This device will sync to a smartphone so users will have real time access to their lifting data such as bar path and acceleration. This team attended DifferenceMaker workshops, rocket pitch coaching sessions and also built up their team throughout the process. Their team has a wide range of unique skills, including physical training, application development, health and more.
