Breezy won First Prize in the First to Market Category at the 2017 5th Annual DifferenceMaker $50K Idea Challenge. The team won $4,500 in funding. Breezy is made up of Anne Faber (Senior, Mechanical Engineering) and several advisors. In addition, Breezy was the second place winner, a $750 prize, at the Engineering Prototyping Competition in December 2016.
Breezy is a real-time air quality-monitoring device, which can be tracked through its cell phone application or online website. Air quality is an increasing problem worldwide with pollution everywhere, and small particulate matter called PM2.5, is a major contributor. Some of these problems include, aggravating allergies and asthma, and in some cases can even cause cancer and death. Breezy attempts to remedy the problem of PM2.5 by allowing people to take control of tracking the air quality in their homes through a small sensor in an air quality monitor in homes at a much more affordable rate than what is currently on the market. Breezy then allows customers to view the air quality in their homes via website or phone application, as well as review solutions on how to improve the quality of their air and how to breathe easier.
