The Department of Public Health at UMass Lowell has a mission to promote health and well-being in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and beyond through transdisciplinary education, research, and collaborations that create transformative, sustainable, and equitable public health science, policy, and practice.
Overview/Description
Programs within the department envision a future where individuals in their communities are engaged and empowered to achieve improved health and health equity.
The program’s goals designed to lead us toward realizing our vision and mission include:
- To provide education that prepares diverse leaders who will develop and implement local and global public health solutions
- To conduct, disseminate and translate research that advances public health science and contributes to policy and practice that enhances the health of diverse populations and communities.
- To develop and maintain sustainable collaborations that engage and empower diverse communities.
The Department of Public Health offers BS in Public Health with options in Community Health/Health Promotion and Health Sciences, Master of Public Health with options in Epidemiology, Healthcare Management, Population Health, Nutrition, and Dietetics, and a Master of Science degree in Health Informatics and Management, with distinct concentrations in Health Informatics and Health Management.
