The minor consists of 18 credits of coursework. At least six credits at the 3000 level or above can be taken outside of the Portuguese Language component in the Department of World Languages and Cultures or in other departments that offer courses related to the Lusophone.

Students who have placed out of any of the elementary and intermediate language courses (Portuguese 1-4) will need to take more elective courses to complete the necessary number of credits required for the minor.
