Description

This course provides an overview of tools used to screen for nutrition risk. The focus of the course content will be on the assessment, diagnosis, intervention, monitoring and evaluation of chronic disease as it relates to nutrition treatment. Assessment topics include methods and tools for assessing body composition, biochemical indicators, dietary intake, energy expenditure, and physical activity. Students will learn to diagnose and develop intervention plans using medical terminology, clinical laboratory values, diet prescription and implementation. This course will stress the steps of the nutrition care process.

Prerequisites

Undergraduate Nutritional Science Dietetics, or Graduate MPH in Dietetics students only.
