Description

A continuation of CHEM.1350. Modern applications of the topics covered in Chemistry II (CHEM.1220). Topics reviewed include liquids and solids, intermolecular forces, solutions, thermodynamics, chemical equilibrium, acids and bases, solubility, electrochemistry, kinetics, and nuclear chemistry. The course includes demonstrations at the Radiation Laboratory - UML's cobalt core facility. Students engage in classroom group activities as well as large personal projects adapted to explorations in their own fields of major concentration. Application of chemistry knowledge, communication, reading, and writing are core course goals. Open to students enrolled in the Honors program, and may be taken instead of CHEM.1220. May be taken by students who earned A/A- in CHEM.1210 with permission.

Pre-Req: CHEM 1210 or CHEM 1350 & Co-Req: CHEM 1240L & Anti-Req: CHEM.1120 & CHEM.1220.Pre-Reqs: CHEM 1210 Chem I or CHEM 1170,& Co-Req: CHEM 1240L & Anti-Req: CHEM.1120 & CHEM.1360.Please Note: Academic petition is required for anti-req exceptions.
