BIOL.4945L Host-Pathogen Interaction Lab

Id: 042625 Credits Min: 1 Credits Max: 1

Description

Infectious disease dynamics, including severity, spread, and patient outcome, are shaped by host-pathogen interactions at multiple scales (ex: molecular, cellular, organismal, ecological). Host-Pathogen Interactions Lab (HPIL) introduces students to the various research methods used to study the host-pathogen interface across these scales. Through the completion of prepared lab modules in the first weeks of class, students learn essential technical skills and prepare for their final, open inquiry project. Students teams will develop and execute their own independent experiments, thereby gaining and practicing essential critical thinking, teamwork, analytical, and communication skills to prepare them for future research careers.
