Description
This course introduces chemistry as a "central science" for students in the health sciences and related professional fields, building a strong foundation in key relevant principles of inorganic, physical, and organic chemistry. The role of chemistry in everyday life and in physiological processes will be highlighted whenever possible. The course develops essential computational and critical thinking skills needed for advanced health science courses and related fields and professions Topics include the properties of matter and energy, behavior of gases, measurements and units, concentration of solutions, atomic structure, chemical formulas, bonding, ionic and molecular compounds, including organic structures, and interparticle interactions.
