Five Centuries of Portuguese Music

Join us for Five Centuries of Portuguese Music, a captivating journey through Portugal’s musical treasures from the 16th to the 20th century. Featuring organist João Vaz, mezzo-soprano Inês Thomas Almeida, and the UMass Lowell Chamber Singers under the direction of Jonathan Richter, this free concert celebrates Portugal’s rich musical heritage—from sacred polyphony to popular song and the poetry of Camões. Presented by the Saab Center for Portuguese Studies in partnership with the departments of Music and World Languages and Cultures.
