Part of the series Le son des français D’amérique, directed by michel brault and André gladu (Canada, 1979, 29 minutes)

Le P'tit Canada refers to the French Canadian neighborhoods that developed around textile mills in New England. Filmed in Lowell, MA, this episode features historian Richard Santerre and the family of Rita Paquin, who share their experiences and explain how musical gatherings played a crucial role in preserving Québec’s cultural heritage. Music, songs, and folk dances have long been vital to Francophone identity, helping communities resist assimilation and keep their traditions alive.
