The Department of World Languages and Cultures is excited to invite you to our Latin Film Festival on Identity and LGBTQ+ Experiences, hosted at the Luna Theater during Fall 2024. The festival showcases five films that explore diverse narratives within the Latin LGBTQ+ community.
The next screening is "Don’t’ Call Me Son” (Mãe Só Há Uma) (2016), a film by Anna Muylaert that tells the story of a young man who is stunned to discover he was kidnapped as a child by the woman he's called mother his entire life. Now, he's left to deal with the consequences of her actions and finally meet his biological family. This Brazilian drama is a scathing critique of upper-middle-class complacency and materialism.
Presented in Portuguese with English subtitles..
When: Nov. 7 at 7:30 p.m.
Where: Luna Theater (Mill 5, 250 Jackson St, Lowell),
The screening is free and is open to the community. However, seating is limited, so first come, first serve. Be sure to arrive early to secure your spot!
