The Wind Ensemble, comprised of some of the finest musicians at the University, performs in concert on Thursday, December 5th, at 8:00PM in Moloney Performing Arts Center Concert Hall.
The concert will feature a corner stone of wind band literature, “First Suite in Eb” by Gustav Holst. Also featured will be “Undertow” by contemporary composer John Mackey along with Mark Camphouse’s haunting Fantasia on the beautiful "Black Is the Color of My True Love's Hair." The concert will close with a work by multiple Emmy award winning composer Julie Giroux entitled “Khan.” The composition was inspired by Genghis Khan, one of history’s most brutal, charismatic and successful warlords. He was a strategic genius who, with his highly disciplined and effective army, conquered territory creating an empire which became the largest contiguous empire in history.
Concert is free and open to the public!
