- What has having been involved with the RHSA meant to you? RHSA has truly been an amazing experience for me, I have seen tremendous personal growth and drive while being a part of this organization. It has enabled me to help many students in need, and doing so has taught me about the various struggles one faces when coming to college unguided and the common challenges they encounter. it has also helped me connect with a diverse group of people who are all very deserving in their own ways and have much to teach.
- Looking back, what advice would you give to yourself in your first year of college? I would suggest that everyone should prioritize their classes, it is important to demonstrate academic excellence if one wishes to have an internship during their sophomore year. it is equally as important to socialize and network among faculty and friends.
- What advice would you give fellow students? Take advantage of the various campus resources such as tutoring, Experiment with a physical/digital calendar, and create a balanced academic-social structure.
- Why did you choose to attend UMass Lowell? It’s close to home, is affordable, and has a reputable CO-OP program.
- What does it mean to you to be a first-generation college student? To me, Being first-gen means more than just the pride that it brings along. It means gaining new experiences every day and sharing them with my parents, it means easing things out for my younger sister and being able to guide her when she embarks on her collegiate journey.
- What inspires you to want to help first-generation students in the RHSA? I understand the challenges that come with being first-gen as I was once in those shoes, I don’t want anyone else to have to go through the unnecessary troubles that come once you first come to college. and though it might seem overwhelming, It all eases down once you learn the basics.
