The STEM Academy (SSA) is a bridge program for Massachusetts Community College students interested in the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) fields. Get a head start on your path toward a UMass Lowell (UML) degree!
This program offers potential Community College transfer students the opportunity to take a free course during our second summer session , currently (July 8 - August 15) while also taking advantage of free transfer workshops, academic success coaching, and peer mentoring. Textbook costs are also covered.
Participants in the SSA will:
- Take a free 3-credit class required for students in selected STEM fields. Students may enroll in any class offered in Summer Session II as long as it counts toward their degree (preference given to STEM courses)
- Connect with a cohort of other Community College Transfer Students with similar interests and goals
- Meet your transfer advisors and department faculty members
- Attend Transfer Success workshops with information on getting to know the university, time management, goal setting and more
- Participate in social and networking events
- Be connected with peer mentoring program that will continue during your first semester at UML
Students should check with their Community College advisor or a UML transfer advisor to determine which course is right for them.
