Biosketch

As vice chancellor for Brand, Communications and Creative Strategy, bec rollins leads a team of more than 40 professionals responsible for branding, print and electronic publications, media relations, communications, digital strategies, and the university’s website. 

An accomplished visual journalist, rollins has significant experience leading communications efforts on behalf of higher education and global health organizations.

Prior to joining UMass Lowell, she was chief marketing officer and vice president of marketing and communication at Simmons University and previously worked as chief global communications officer for Pathfinder International, where she developed a strategic brand identity on behalf of a global organization that champions sexual and reproductive health.

She has served as vice president of communications and marketing at Appalachian Mountain Club and communications officer for Partners in Health. For more than a decade, rollins was a senior multimedia producer and associate news director for Harvard University.

As a journalist, rollins reported and produced stories for television and radio in Boston, Charlotte, N.C., and Nashville, Tenn. She also worked as media relations manager for Boston Mayor Thomas Menino.

She is a Smith College alumnus.
