Biology

Honors College Student Fellow Sunilda Frias is studying biology to help subsistence farmers improve their soil.

I like UMass Lowell because of the diversity. You can get out of your comfort zone ... but still feel like you’re at home.

Transformative Experience

"I used my Immersive Scholarship to study abroad in Prague. This program enabled me to not only take fascinating courses totally outside my comfort zone, but also to explore one of the oldest and most beautiful cities in Europe. It was a transformative experience, and I learned a lot about myself and the world around me and made fantastic new friends as we took courses and traveled together!"

Valuable & Insightful

“Throughout my time at the Natick Army Research Center, I gained valuable experience both as a chemist and an adult. I learned new techniques such as fiber extrusion, knitting and various analytical techniques. This was my first real job away from home and it gave me some insight on how the real world works.”
