Biosketch

Sue, a double River Hawk alum, is the Assistant Director of College Based Advising for Manning School of Business undergraduate students. Her goals are to collaborate with and empower students to make informed choices on their academic journey. Sue is a strong advocate for, and is herself, a first-generation college student, recently inducted into Tri-Alpha (First Generation College Student Honor Society).

In 2018, Sue developed, and has since expanded, the UMass Lowell Peer Advisor program. Through the program, undergraduate students are hired and trained to help their fellow River Hawks navigate UML systems and campus resources. Sue also champions mental health initiatives, holds Mental Health First Aid Certifications, and promotes intentional self care for her students and fellow staff. Much of her mental health awareness outreach is delivered via managing social media platforms: uml_advising and kcs_advising

Sue has served on multiple UMASS Lowell campus-wide committees, most recently with the Council on Social Justice and Inclusion Task Force.

Active in the National Association for Academic Advising (NACADA), Sue holds Communications Chair positions on the Region One Conference Committee, as well as the Region One Steering Committee.
