Lowell native Jonathan Lemire to Discuss Covering Presidential Politics in Free Program for Campus, Community

WHAT: Jonathan Lemire, White House reporter for The Associated Press and MSNBC political analyst, will talk about the experience of covering the presidency of Donald Trump, the 2020 campaign and the challenges faced by the new Biden administration at this virtual event, presented by the Learning in Retirement Association (LIRA), UMass Lowell Community Relations and UMass Lowell’s Alumni Virtual Village.
Lemire, a Lowell native, covered the 2016 presidential campaign, the presidency and impeachment of Donald Trump, and the 2020 campaign reshaped by the coronavirus pandemic. He is now covering the Biden administration for the Associated Press and he is a regular on MSNBC programs like “Morning Joe,” “Deadline: White House with Nicolle Wallace” and “The 11th Hour with Brian Williams.” Before joining the AP in 2013, Lemire spent more than a decade at the New York Daily News, covering the 2012 presidential election, City Hall and the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
The virtual event with Lemire will feature UMass Lowell Chancellor Jacquie Moloney, along with a panel moderated by UMass President Marty Meehan including UMass Lowell Honors College Interim Dean and Associate Professor of Political Science Jenifer Whitten-Woodring, LIRA President Peter Sebelius and UMass Lowell public health major and Student Government Association member Valeria Saldana of Revere.
