What: UMass Lowell students preparing for careers as international business leaders will share the success they’ve achieved in UMass Lowell’s Global Entrepreneurship Exchange Program (GE2), which is celebrating its fifth anniversary.

The program was launched by UMass Lowell’s Manning School of Business with nine students and has grown to include more than 1,000 students and faculty from 20 countries. The GE2 teaches the fundamentals of launching a business, including financing and investment options, management, marketing and team-building through classroom sessions and real-world experience. UMass Lowell students travel to partner institutions in nations including China and India, and international students come to UMass Lowell through the GE2. The award-winning program has received national recognition from the Institute of International Education for innovation.

Speakers at the event are expected to include Chancellor Jacquie Moloney, along with program participants Connor Arsenault of Haverhill, who studied in India, and Evan Reeves of Methuen, who just returned from a GE2 session in China. Representatives from those countries, along with seven other GE2 partner institutions in 11 nations around the world, including Algeria, Ghana and Italy, will also attend.

The celebration will include the GE2 Student Venture Challenge, which will feature concepts for businesses created as part of GE2’s coursework. The ideas that show the most promise as determined by Manning School of Business faculty and those projects that are deemed “fan favorites” will receive awards.
