The CARES Act was passed by Congress and signed by the President on March 27, 2020. The bill provided economic aid to the Office of Postsecondary Education (OPE) as the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF). UMass Lowell was a recipient of the Student and Institutional Portions of the HEERF funding.
