The Music Department's faculty is composed of talented professional musicians who pride themselves as skilled music educators.
All music majors are professional Bachelor of Music degree programs and require an audition for admission. The Department also offers a five-year dual degree program
The Music Department resides in the Moloney Performing Arts Center, located on UMass Lowell's South Campus, overlooking the Merrimack River. It is minutes from downtown Lowell and convenient to Boston by car, bus or train.
Moloney Performing Arts Center contains a 1,200-seat concert hall, a 225-seat Recital Hall, 30 rehearsal suites, six sound recording technology studios of various types (including world-class tracking and mixing spaces), a music technology laboratory (containing state of the art Apple workstations with MIDI keyboards), as well as numerous classroom spaces (all equipped with fully integrated smart-classroom technology). The recital and concert halls accommodate student performances, as well as professional presentations as part of the Community Arts Outreach Program or the Department's Guest Performer Series.
The Department has 17 full-time faculty and 45 adjunct faculty. Our typical enrollment is approximately 470 undergraduate and 50 graduate students.
