Paxton, Talarico tied in U.S. Senate race in Texas

Conducted from Sept. 18 to 28, a UMass Lowell/YouGov poll surveyed 850 likely Texas voters in the upcoming election for governor and U.S. Senate, with an adjusted margin of error of 4.5%.

Key Findings:

  • Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton and state Rep. James Talarico are tied, with each receiving support from 45% of respondents.
  • Incumbent Gov. Greg Abbott and his challenger, state Rep. Gina Hinojosa, are about even, with 48% and 44% support respectively.
  • President Trump’s approval rating is relatively strong for the middle of his second term, at 47% among Texas voters. though it’s slightly less than Texas voters gave him six years ago.
  • Texas voters fix the blame for high energy prices on the war in Iran and tariffs.
