General Summary (Purpose) of Position
The Coordinator of Diversity Support Services will mentor/advise as well as coordinate planned retention activities for BDN enrolled students.

This is a part time benefited position.  Position is contingent on continued funding.

Examples of Duties:
1. Serve as mentor/advisor to enrolled BDN students by:
• Providing academic support by attending nursing classes.
• Collaborating with nursing faculty to conduct class and exam review sessions, both individual and small group.
• Enhancing study and test-taking skills.

2. Coordinate retention activities by:
• Determining the pool of candidates who meet eligibility criteria for BDN program from freshmen and sophomore students.
• Identifying and recruiting peer tutors.

3. Assist in meeting the cultural needs of BDN students by:
• Encouraging participation in one of UML’s culturally diverse student associations.
• Establishing a mentoring network with comparable culturally diverse nursing mentor in clinical and/or community settings.
• Planning and implementing various extracurricular social/cultural nursing events and activities.

4. Promote the University’s commitment to customer service by:
• Building effective partnerships with co-workers throughout the University by freely sharing appropriate information and providing assistance when needed.
• Ensuring optimum service to all internal and external partners in response to all requests for service and information.
• Maintaining an environment that is welcoming to persons of all backgrounds, nationalities, and roles.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• Master’s prepared nurse with active Mass. RN license.
• Minimum 2 years full-time nursing experience.
• Bilingual skills necessary preferably Spanish or Khmer and strong English proficiency
• Demonstrated understanding of the importance of cultural competency in health care delivery.
• Experience working with college students in a teaching or school health setting preferred. 
• Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
• A job offer for this position is contingent upon a satisfactory response to a Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI) check and review.
