General Summary (Purpose) of Position
The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Massachusetts Lowell invites applications for a tenure track Assistant Professor position in Structural Engineering with emphasis in areas of engineering mechanics and structural analysis and design; candidates with expertise in structural engineering materials and materials testing will also be considered.  In exceptional cases, candidates may be considered for appointment at the level of Associate Professor.  It is anticipated that the position will start in September 2008 pending available funding.

Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.

UMass Lowell is a campus of the University of Massachusetts system located 30 miles northwest of Boston.  The CEE Department has a well-regarded, ABET-accredited undergraduate program, and an active full- and part-time graduate program. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• Earned Doctorate in Civil/Structural Engineering, as well as a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering.
• Demonstrated ability teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels in Civil/Structural Engineering.
• Commitment to develop and sustain an externally funded research program
• Demonstrated potential for publications in scholarly journals.
• Registration or ability to become registered as a Professional Engineer in Civil/Structural Engineering required.
• Demonstrated ability working with diverse student and faculty population.
