Paul E. Tsongas  Center

The Paul E. Tsongas Center is a partnership of Lowell National Historical Park (LNHP), the Lowell Plan, Inc., Middlesex Community College, and the University of Massachusetts Lowell.  Each partner participates in all aspects of the Center and contributes expertise and support.  For more than 20 years, the Tsongas Industrial History Center has exemplified excellence, serving students and teachers with experiential learning and professional development programs.  To build on that success, the founding partners, LNHP and UMass Lowell, joined with Middlesex Community College and the Lowell Plan, Inc. to create the expanded Paul E. Tsongas Center.

The Center's program is shaped around ideas and issues that were important to Senator Tsongas: community revitalization, environmental sustainability, excellence in education, historic preservation, immigration, multiculturalism, public service and leadership, and regional economic development.

The mission of the Center is to deepen the public's understanding of industrial history and the life of cities in the context of a global society and economy--and to enhance city life for all people.

The Center provides experiential learning opportunities, conducts public policy research and advances civic engagement and leadership programs.
