The UMass Lowell Baseball Research Center is a Center of Excellence for the Science and Engineering of Baseball for both experimental and analytical methods. Founded in 1999, the Center has worked to educate students in the field of Sports Engineering, while engaging with Sports Leagues and Associations and Sporting Goods Manufacturers to advance the scientific understanding and state of the art of sports equipment. As on of very few programs with a focus in sports engineering, the Center hosted the 2012 international conference of the International Sports Engineering Association (ISEA) and also hosted a Concussion Prevention and Diagnosis Workshop in 2015.
Graduate Students interested in pursuing research if the field of Sports Engineering should contact the Center to discuss opportunities.
Sporting Goods Companies and Leagues are encouraged to contact the Center with research challenges and projects to discuss the potential for developing a research project, program or collaboration.
