
Pre-Commencement Scholarship Fundraising Dinner
On Friday, May 30, there will be a scholarship fundraising dinner at which honorary degree recipients, distinguished alumni and student award recipients will be acknowledged. Attendants are invited to join Chancellor Marty Meehan and Commencement Speaker U.S. Sen. John Kerry in recognizing the UMass Lowell’s Honorary Degree and Distinguished Alumni Recipients from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at the Allen House, 2 Solomont Way, UMass Lowell South.
The commencement eve reception also will feature student award winners. The speaking program will begin promptly at 6 p.m. Tickets are $100 per person. Proceeds will go to the Chancellor Martin T. 8:30 a.m. Doors to Tsongas Arena Open
8:30 a.m. Students Assemble Under Tent Located on the right side of the Arena
9 a.m. Faculty/Staff/Alumni/ line-up begins in the tent near the loading dock. The Platform Party line-up begins in the corridor adjacent to Dressing Room 4 & 5.
9:30 a.m. Students Processional Begins from Tent into Arena
9:45 a.m. Faculty/Staff/Alumni Processional Begins
10 a.m. University Commencement Ceremony Begins
12:30 p.m. College Receptions (light refreshments)
University Commencement Ceremony
The University Commencement Ceremony will consist of the following:
- Greetings from officials of the Commonwealth,
- Awarding of honorary and earned doctoral degrees,
- A brief commencement address and
- Conferral of degrees.
Following the University ceremony, college faculties, graduating students and guests should proceed to college reception areas.
NOTE: Children are NOT allowed in the processional line or in the student-designated seating area in the Arena.
