Bio Sketch

Elizabeth O. Shorr is the Vice Chancellor of University Advancement.  In that role she is responsible for increasing support for UMass Lowell, working with alumni, friends, corporations and foundations.  Shorr has a long and accomplished career in business and higher education.  In her role as Vice Chancellor, she serves as a member of the Chancellor’s Executive Cabinet.
 
Shorr comes to UMass Lowell from Maine, where she served as President of the University of Southern Maine Foundation and as Vice President of University Advancement at the University of Southern Maine (USM).  In that role she led USM in the largest capital campaign in its history.  She was also responsible for leading USM’s marketing and brand management, alumni and corporate relations, and public affairs. 

Prior to her work at USM,  Shorr served as Senior Vice President of Corporate Affairs for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Maine, where she was responsible for marketing and brand management, community relations, public affairs and human resources.
 
Shorr is committed to the community in which she lives and works and has served as Chairman of the Board of United Way of Greater Portland, Chairman of the Board of the Maine Technical College System, and as a trustee of the Maine Medical Center.  In 2002, Shorr was a recipient of the prestigious Deborah Morton Award from the University of New England and in 1998 she received the New England Council’s Leadership Award for Women in Business.
