Service-Learning (SL) is defined as: “A credit-bearing, educational experience in which students participate in an organized service activity that meets identified community needs and reflect on the service activity in such a way as to gain further understanding of course content, a broader appreciation of the discipline, and an enhanced sense of civic responsibility.” - Bringle & Hatcher, 1995

Service-Learning Course Attribute
Applying to have the SL Attribute to your course will add you to the list of SL courses in our database, provide your students with a note of completing the SL course on their transcript, and for Spring 2015 it will allow students to search for SL courses on iSiS.
The Attribute Policies provide detailed information on criteria and the process for having your course approved. The form should be filled out by faculty then submitted to the service-learning coordinators at SL_info@uml.edu.
Forms for fall 2014 will be reviewed in October 2014. Spring 2015 courses that would like to be searchable on iSiS will also be reviewed at that time. Official deadlines will be posted by July 15th, 2014 along with an updated application form. To get a sense of the application, see the old form below.
