The University of Massachusetts Lowell is pleased to announce its new Proximity Regional Rates for undergraduate and graduate students living in Southern New Hampshire.
The program offers a reduced tuition rate to New Hampshire students whose hometown is within 20 miles of the UMass Lowell campus. This program also applies to students whose hometown requires them to attend a regional high school, and this regional high school is located within 20 miles of the UMass Lowell campus. The reduction translates into a savings of more than $6,000 annually for undergraduates and more than $5,000 annually for graduate students.
Based on 2009-2010 tuition and fees, an undergraduate out-of-state student's cost is $22,701. If that student qualifies for Proximity Regional rates, the total tuition and fee cost would be $16,315. For an out-of-state graduate students taking a full-time course load, the annual cost would be $24,964. Under the Proximity Regional rates, the total for tuitiona nd fes could be $19,672.
Part-time students will have a comparable percentage reduction in their cost per credit hour.
(Note: Tuition and fees are set each year. Please confirm the latest rates on the Student Financial Services page.)
This program was developed in response to the many highly-qualified Southern New Hampshire students seeking a world-class University education close to home.
The new Proximity Regional Rate program is based on a provision of the New England Board of Higher Education Regional Student Program (NERSP). The proximity program does not change in any way the provisions and costs of the NERSP.
Students in most majors are eligible. Participating students are eligible for on-campus housing. Please see the Proximity Fact Sheet for detailed information.
