Former Executive Director of Advancement Donald Rizzo Passes Away

LOUISVILLE, Ken. -- Donald G. Rizzo, 64, of Louisville, executive director of University Advancement at UMass Lowell from 1995 to 2003, passed away peacefully Saturday, Aug. 2, 2014, at the University of Louisville Hospital with his family by his side.

Donald was an Associate Vice President for Development at the University of Louisville, and a member for the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP). He was the recipient of the 2010 CCS Award for Outstanding Fundraising Professional, presented by the AFP. Donald was also a member of the National Society of Fund Raising Executives (NSFRE).

Donald worked at a variety of institutions, including the University of Louisville, University of Massachusetts at Lowell, Butler University, Loyola University, and the Claremont Graduate School.

He was the devoted husband of 36 years to his wife Jane E. (Davis) Rizzo, and a loving father to his two children, Adam Davis Rizzo and Kendall Canavan Rizzo of Massachusetts.

The family has requested private services through Ratterman Funeral Home 3711 Lexington Rd. Louisville, KY 40207. The family requests that any memorials be made in the form of a donation in his name, Donald G. Rizzo, to the James Graham Brown Cancer Center in Louisville, KY.
