Jacqueline Moloney was appointed Executive Vice Chancellor for the University of Massachusetts Lowell in April 2007 and is the first woman to serve in this role in the history of the institution. As a member of Chancellor Meehan’s Executive Cabinet, she assists the Chancellor in overseeing the University’s operations, strategic planning, capital planning and fundraising.

The Meehan administration has been credited with transforming the University into a vibrant community for students, faculty and staff and for significantly improving critical University benchmarks such as student retention, student enrollment, SAT’s of entering freshmen, student diversity, financial margins, fundraising and infrastructure.  She currently provides a leadership role in long-range planning by co-chairing the UMass Lowell 2020 Commission which has engaged over 200 faculty, staff and community members in developing the University’s strategic plan for the next decade.

Moloney is known for her entrepreneurial and collegial leadership style.  She has previously served in numerous capacities at the University, including Dean of Continuing Studies, Corporate and Online Education and the founding Director of the Centers for Learning. Under her leadership, the Continuing Studies Division became a $33.5 million operation which contributes significantly to the University’s operating budget and achieved a national reputation for developing top quality programs.  It is the recipient of three Sloan-C awards including Most Outstanding Faculty Development and Most Outstanding Institution-wide programming.

Personally, Moloney received the prestigious lifetime achievement award: Most Outstanding Achievement in Online Learning in 2009 from Sloan-C, the nationally recognized professional organization dedicated to the development of online learning.

Moloney is a member of the Graduate School of Education faculty, where she received her doctorate in 1992.  She has authored numerous scholarly articles on the development of online programs, the use of technologies in the classroom; cross-disciplinary approaches to curriculum reform; and the organizational reform of higher education.

As a Principal Investigator on numerous grants, she has received over $850,000 from the Sloan Foundation and other organizations to fund innovation in faculty and curriculum development.  Moloney has served as a contributor to the national dialogue on online education as a board member of the Sloan Consortium.

Moloney is deeply involved in the community and serves on numerous boards including Enterprise Bank, Greater Lowell Community Foundation, House of Hope, Lowell General Hospital and the American Textile Museum and is a recipient of the 2008 Girls Inc. Woman of the Year Award.
