The mission of the Outdoor Adventure Program is to support the development of healthy, balanced lifestyles for the UMass Lowell community through outdoor recreation activities. We aim to provide the university community with fun and safe experiences that develop technical skills and cultivate the personal development of our participants and student staff. Finally, we strive to foster environmental awareness and work to build a diverse and sustainable community.
The Outdoor Adventure Trips program seeks to offer a variety of safe and fun outdoor trips to UMass Lowell Community. We offer trips that meet every person's skill level in order to challenge each person to grow through the experience. We encourage teamwork, skill development, personal growth and appreciation of the outdoors throughout the trip experience.
We will travel to a scenic section of the scenic Connecticut River just after it crosses into Massachusetts. We will load our canoes with all our camping gear, and enjoy a paddle down the river, camping along the shores at a campsite accessible only by canoes. After a night full of tasty food and campfires we will paddle further on Sunday morning before we reach our end. Expect to see abundant wildlife, to swim as much as you want in the cool water of this rive, and to have a lot of fun!
White Water Rafting
Test your adventurous side as we paddle a section of the Deerfield river along Zoar Gap. After a full day of rafting we will relax in our cabin tents and enjoy a campfire that evening. On Sunday we will stretch our legs on a hike before returning to campus.
