Making up coursework following snow days this semester

Unprecedented snowfall this winter has resulted in the cancelation of several days of classes. Students have many ways to make up for lost class and lab time. The registrar has scheduled optional makeup days and faculty members are offering coursework through Lecture Capture and other technology. Students are encouraged to contact their professors to determine how the loss of class time is being handled for their specific courses. Faculty will work to manage any scheduling conflicts students may encounter as a result of these changes. Read the message from the Provost.

Campus Transportation

Transportation Services asks River Hawk Roadster and campus shuttle riders to plan for and expect delays in travel times as it runs some alternate routes to adjust to the record amount of snow in Lowell. The safety of our riders is our top concern and Transportation Services appreciates your patience during this historic winter.

Cancellations and Information

UMass Lowell is committed to the safety and well-being of its students, faculty, staff and visitors. When deciding whether to close the campus due to extreme weather conditions, university officials consider many factors, including the condition of roads and streets on campus and in the surrounding areas, power outages, weather forecasts and other safety factors. University officials also consult with local and state public safety and emergency management agencies to make the most informed decisions possible. We trust that all members of the university community will use their best judgment about travel during inclement weather and communicate with faculty or supervisors about their situations.

The UMass Lowell website is the primary location for all updates on university operations during closures. To receive e-mail or text messages about weather-related cancellations, sign up for alerts. You may also call 978-934-2121 or ext. 4-2121 for information. Cancellations will also be posted on Facebook and Twitter
