Freshman and Transfer Student Overview
The UMass Lowell Freshman Orientation Program is required for all students entering the University. It is the only opportunity you, as an incoming student, will have to meet with your advisor and get the information you need to start your semester.
Orientation is designed to give you the foundation you need to make a successful start in your student career. You'll get a preview of life as an undergraduate and a chance to have your questions answered. Orientation sessions are organized by college and major, so the students you meet at Orientation are the students you will be sitting next to in class. In addition, our Orientation Leaders are current undergraduate students. They can give you the inside track on campus life, professors, and just about anything.
Transfer Registration can be completed online with an advising component or on-campus as a half-day program. These programs are designed to connect your with your academic advisor, get you registered for classes, set up with your student ID, familiarize you with our campus life, and explore what it means to be a student at UMass Lowell.
Online Transfer Registration sessions are available early in both the Fall and Spring semesters. Online sessions will provide an interactive experience that walks you through UMass Lowell's Transfer Registration program and provides you the contact information of your academic advisor. To request an online session, please complete the Early Transfer Advising and Registration form for Spring 2014 as soon as possible.
Online Early Transfer Advising and Registration is only available from November 11- January 3.
On-campus Transfer Registration sessions check-in on North Campus at 8:30 am. There, you will be greeted by Orientation Leaders who will get you set up for the day.
Please plan on being here for at least 4 hours.
Re-admitted students are welcome to participate in any part of the Transfer Registration program, especially if you have been out of school for a while, however it is not mandatory.
All new Transfer students are required to complete the Registration process before enrolling for classes. There are multiple sessions available for each major, both online and on-campus. We encourage you to select the earliest date that fits in your schedule.
