Graduate Programs in Music

Program Objectives

The graduate programs in music are committed to the continued acquisition of musical knowledge and professional competence, as well as the development of research skills. The specific objectives of the various degree programs are listed under the individual program descriptions.

Courses can be taken in music theory and history/literature, music education, performance and sound recording technology.

General Program Requirements

All master of music programs require a minimum of 30 credits. Each program has a required capstone component. Depending on the program, this will be apprentice teaching, a thesis, a project report, or a recital project. Students are required to participate in an ensemble during every semester in which they have full-time status. Specific requirements are listed under the individual program descriptions.
