Student Employment Office
The University of Massachusetts Lowell Student Employment Office is designed to help currently enrolled students pursue their educational goals by providing employment resources for students regardless of need.
With approximately 900 participants each year in the UMass Lowell Student Employment Program and Federal Work Study Program, students will choose from hundreds of diverse job opportunities, all of which offer students flexibility in scheduling, comfortable working environments and a competitive pay rate. Whether building on existing skills or adding new skill sets, students build their resumes when working with our University's nationally recognized faculty and staff.
The University of Massachusetts Lowell offers three different levels of need based student employment for students who qualify. There are general level positions which pay $10/hr, need based campus co-ops which pay $11/hr and community service positions which pay $12/hr. Depending on your level of experience and expertise and your employment interests, there is a student employment opportunity that fits your needs.
It is the goal of the Student Employment Office to make on-campus employment opportunities fair and accessible to all students. Money earned from the work programs is to be used for educational expenses. Earnings are not counted as earned income when reporting income for financial aid purposes in the following school year. For additional information on the program or policies, please view our Student Employment Handbook.
Additionally, the Student Employment Office provides access to non-university affiliated employment opportunities. Our Job Location and Development (JLD) program receives employment postings from local businesses that are looking to hire our talented students. Students do not have to be awarded UMass Lowell Student Employment or Federal Work Study to apply.
