Facilities

Opened in 2002, the 65,000-square-foot Campus Recreation Center at the University of Massachusetts Lowell is a state-of-the-art recreational facility designed to meet the needs of the UMass Lowell campus community.

Fitness CenterElliptical

The 6,500-square-foot fitness center is filled with state-of-the-art fitness equipment that will satisfy both the inexperienced and experienced user. LifeFitness, Precor, Cybex, and Concept II cardiovascular equipment is complemented by Bodymaster, LifeFitness, and Iron Grip strength equipment.

Multipurpose Courts

Three multipurpose courts are utilized for basketball, volleyball and badminton. The courts are also used for intramural sports competitions and club sport practices and games.

Multipurpose Studios

Two multipurpose studios are located on the second floor of the facility. Both studios have state-of-the-art Bose sound systems with wireless microphones for instructors. Muscualr conditioning, mind-body, and aerobic-based group fitness classes such as Zumba, kickboxing, yoga, abs, and Pilates utilize these spaces. The studios are also used for instructional programs and club sports team practices including martial arts, fencing, dance, and a host of other pursuits.

Indoor Track

A 1/10-mile running track is suspended above the three multipurpose-courts. The track can be used for walking, as well as running. The seamless track surface also boasts banked turns to assist runners through the corners.  Exercisers alternate directions every day.

Racquet SportsRec-rackball-4

Two racquetball courts and one squash court are available for those interested in these racquet activities. Each court has glass back walls so action can be viewed from both the first and second floor of the building. All racquetball participants must wear eye protection.

Locker Rooms

Locker-room facilities are available to all patrons of the Campus Recreation Center. Lockers can be used on a daily basis. The Campus Recreation Center has a free equipment check-out service. Patrons can pick up equipment at the Welcome Desk and leave their ID as collateral. Equipment that is available to be checked out includes basketballs as well as racquetball, squash, ping pong, pool, weight belts, jump ropes, and other fitness equipment. Men's and women's locker rooms include showers and saunas.

Monday - Thursday 6:30 a.m. to 11 p.m.
Friday 6:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Saturday 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Sunday Noon to 10 p.m.

Facility News & Notes:

CRC Summer 2013 hours will run from 5/3 - 8/30.  The CRC will be closed 5/25 - 5/27 for Memorial Day and 7/4 for Independence Day.

Facility Maintenance Shut-Down: The CRC will be closed August 3 through August 9 for facility maintenance and cleaning. The CRC will reopen for regular summer hours on Saturday, August 10. The basketball courts, studios and racquetball courts will be closed August 3-17 so the wood floors can be refinished and will reopen for regular use on Monday, August 19. 5/2 - 5/3: Noon - 1:30 p.m. & 4:30 p.m. - 6 p.m.
5/4: Pool Closed
5/6 - 5/10: Noon - 1:30 p.m. & 4:30 p.m. - 6 p.m.
5/11: 1:30 p.m. - 4 p.m.
5/13: Noon - 1:30 p.m.
5/14 - 5/19: Closed
Costello Pool summer hours start 5/20 and are: Monday - Friday: Noon - 2 p.m. & 4:30 p.m. - 6 p.m. Weekends: Pool Closed

Note: If the University is closed due to inclement weather, the Campus Recreation Center will have a delayed opening at 10 a.m. (Monday - Friday) and will remain open to normal closing time, unless otherwise noted.
