Ibrahim Alshawabkeh is a PhD electrical and computer engineering student who conducted research to design, fabricate and evaluate a portable solid-sate cooler (SSC) using thermoelectric cells for cooling the passenger compartment of a regular car. Ibrahim explained the significant benefits of his solar panel design such as reducing the environmental effects of ferion gas used with traditional air conditioning systems and lowering consumers' fuel costs; other than the installation, using the solar panel is free. Ibrahim's advice for students who want to get involved in research is to "do something you like." But also he says, "You should do something that's going to have an impact ... and be good for your society."
