Resources for Parents
Questions about your student's tuition bill? We're here to help.
Did you know the same laws that give parents and students access to and control over a child’s educational records during elementary and high school transfer ownership of the records to the student at the college level?
According to FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act, also known as the Buckley Amendment), college students are considered responsible adults and are allowed to determine who will receive information about them.
Under this law,
parents who want to view a student’s tuition bill must do so through UShare.
Through UShare, a student may grant certain people “guest” access to his/her account information. The student can choose to allow access to viewing, paying the bill, 1098-T, course selection, health insurance waiver/enrollment form, Financial Aid award or “to do” list.
The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA) link will provide you with a full disclosure of information UMass Lowell may or may not be able to provide. The student can allow access using UShare.
