The 32nd Annual Greater Lowell Walk for Hunger (GLWH) is scheduled for Saturday, April 5 beginning at 8 a.m.  at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, 75 Cold Spring Road in Westford. This is an open invitation to all of our neighbors in the Merrimack Valley region to participate in this annual tradition of collecting and donating funds to several vital charities battling hunger in the greater Lowell area. All donations will be distributed to support the Alternative House, the House of Hope, the Lowell Transitional Living Center, the Open Pantry of Greater Lowell, the Merrimack Valley Food Bank Mobile Pantry, the food pantries in Westford and Chelmsford, and Sharing, Inc.

This fundraising event offers corporations, churches, fitness clubs, middle and high school organizations as well as athletic teams an opportunity to help these local charities through group participation. GLWH is also an excellent way for local youth to support those in need, take part in a fitness activity, and meet community service or National Honor Society application requirements.

The Walk is a 13-mile scenic course through Westford and Chelmsford consisting of two loops (4.2 & 8.8 miles) to and from St. Mark's Church. Participants may walk one or both loops. Crossing guards are posted at all major intersections. First aid services are also available. There is water at each stop, including a PBJ lunch at the stop at West Chelmsford United Methodist Church. If needed, there are van rides back to St. Mark's Church throughout the day. Please note, the walk will not be cancelled because of bad weather, so dress appropriately.

Those turning in $125 or more at registration will receive a free Walk-for-Hunger T-shirt. Please download your Walk Sheet.

Support for the Walk is provided by Dunkin Donuts, Gardiner Design, Greater Lowell Technical High School, Hannaford, Market Basket, Ratta Corp., Sam's Club, Stop & Shop, Trader Joe's, and Trinity EMS. Thanks to these businesses for their generous support for the walk event. In addition, we are grateful to the Feinstein Foundation for once again matching a portion of the funds that we collect to fight hunger.
