Grand Opening!
The opening of the Emerging Technologies and Innovation Center (ETIC) marks the beginning of new scientific discovery and ground-breaking research at the University of Massachusetts Lowell.
The ETIC houses cutting-edge programs in nanomedicine, nanomanufacturing, plastics and elastomers, clean-room technologies, biomaterials develoment and more. These are fast-developing fields with growing career prospects and promising industry partnership opportunities.

Below, watch a brief clip of the ribbon cutting ceremony and speeches that took place during the Grand Opening Celebration on October 11, 2012. Chancellor Marty Meehan was Master of Ceremonies. Speakers included Governor Deval Patrick, U.S. Representative Niki Tsongas, State Senator Eileen Donoghue, State Representative Thomas Golden, UMass President Robert Caret, UMass Lowell Vice Provost for Research Julie Chen, State Senator (ret.) Steven Panagiotakos, and Raytheon Co. Vice Presidents Michael Del Checcolo and Paul Ferraro.
