NECCUM is a consortium of 10 colleges (private and public, two-year and four-year) linked by geographic proximity, and a commitment to enhance the experience of our students, faculty and staff through cooperative programs. Students at member institutions have the opportunity to take courses at and use the libraries of any of the NECCUM member institutions. University of Massachusetts Lowell is a member of NECCUM and therefore students may choose to cross-register at the following colleges and universities.

What are the advantages of taking a course through NECCUM? 
NECCUM allows you the opportunity to benefit from the broad curriculum offerings of more than 130 program majors and concentrations offered by NECCUM member institutions. Students at each institution also have full library privileges at all 10 institutions.

How do I sign up for a NECCUM course?
You must be a full-time day student at UMass Lowell with a GPA of 2.0 or above. First-semester freshmen may not participate in cross-registration with NECCUM (except for ROTC students). You must obtain permission from the registrar before registering for the course and you should also discuss course options with your academic advisor. NECCUM registration forms and additional information are available in the Registrar's Office. Cross-registration is on a "space available" basis as long as all course prerequisites and co-requisites have been met. Each member institution may establish its own internal policy for regulating student cross-registration. In all cases, you must have completed the cross-registration process no later than the end of the first week of classes of the host institution.

How many courses per semester can I take at another NECCUM member institution?
You can take no more than two courses per semester, provided you have met the above requirements.

How will I be billed?
There are no additional tuition costs beyond that paid to the home institution. However, you must pay for course-related materials, and you will be billed, by the host institution, for any additional lab fees or other fees required for a particular course.

How will these courses transfer back to UMass Lowell?
Grades and credits are automatically sent to the Registrar's Office and become part of your record. Both the grades and the credits will be transferred and will be part of your Official UMass Lowell Transcript. If grading options exist at the host institution such as pass/fail, the policies of UMass Lowell will apply and may supersede those of the host institution.
