Mablehead Native Water Skis in the Atlantic

While Jessica LeBlanc isn’t giving up her 'day job' as an Exercise Physiology major, she recently had the experience of her life performing water skiing stunts for Kate Hudson for an upcoming movie.
It all started when the Marblehead native responded to an open casting call for water skiers on the North Shore.
“I got a call from Hollywood a few weeks later explaining that I was the only woman out of all the applicants that the directors were interested in and they wanted me on set the following week,” says LeBlanc, who is in her junior year.
She arrived on set of the HBO movie “Clear History,” starring Larry David, Kate Hudson, Danny McBride and Jon Hamm. On her first day, LeBlanc, who is brunette, went from being an extra in a boat in the ocean near Beverly and Gloucester to Kate Hudson’s photo double.
“They put a blonde wig on me, dressed me up in Kate’s wetsuit and life jacket, and I posed in a Boston Whaler in the ocean for a water skiing scene,” she says.
The directors caught up with her after shooting the scene and asked if she was interested in stunt doubling for Hudson later in the week: she filmed two more days handling Hudson’s action scenes.
“It was so exciting to meet and work with the stars of the movie,” explained LeBlanc. “Kate introduced herself to me, shook my hand and thanked me for doing her stunts for her.”
Scenes were shot on West Beach in Beverly, at the Topsfield Fair, and in Essex and North Andover. For LeBlanc it’s not an experience she will soon forget.
“I became a ‘professional’ actress and water skier overnight. I had the time of my life!”
