WHAT: One hundred and fifty employers seeking to hire UMass Lowell students and alumni for full-time and part-time jobs, internships and co-operative education opportunities will participate in the university’s 2012 Fall Career Fair – the largest event of its kind on campus in seven years.
More than 700 students are expected to attend, along with dozens of UMass Lowell alumni. Employers recruiting at the event range from Fortune 500 companies to innovative startups to nonprofit organizations. Companies scheduled to participate include Corning, EMC, Keurig, Fidelity Investments, General Electric, Hallmark Health, NStar, Pfizer, Procter & Gamble, Prudential, Raytheon, Red Hat, Sterilite, Stratus Technologies, UPS and Verizon.
Employers will be looking to hire in fields including business, engineering, health care, human services, science, technology, and more. Nine companies will stay on campus an extra day to interview as many as 100 job candidates.
The event – which filled its employer capacity more than a month ago – is hosted by UMass Lowell’s Career Services and Cooperative Education Center. The center prepares UMass Lowell students for their job search through a variety of programs, including a career-fair workshop that teaches everything from proper greetings to developing a personal “elevator pitch,” resume makeovers and mock interviews that include feedback by real employers.
Note: The career fair is open only to UMass Lowell students and alumni.
